Reducing energy costs for technological processes is currently a key condition for a modern enterprise, which directly affects the competitiveness of products. At enterprises where mechanical processing of material is used in technological processes, a significant share of the cutting process occurs, so the question arises of using energy-saving technologies. In machines where the process of cutting materials is used, an urgent task is to find new design solutions for the modernization of existing machines and develop recommendations for the design of new ones. One of the ways to solve this problem is to develop and compare different types of knife designs. The subject of this work is a knife with an arcuate cross-sectional shape. The purpose of this study is to determine the constructive effect of an arcuate knife of cross-section on the process of cutting monolithic rubber, to determine the optimal parameters of the size of the gap between the creative conveying rollers and the distance from the vertical axis of rotation of the conveying rollers to the edge of the blade of an arcuate knife of cross-section on the linear force of cutting monolithic rubber, using regression equations. The research was carried out on an experimental installation using an arcuate knife of cross-section, and monolithic rubber was chosen as the material. During the experiment, the rotating Box plan was used, which made it possible to effectively solve the tasks of assessing the influence of the factors under study, determine the total value of losses during longitudinal cutting of the material and the amount of friction losses of the material on the knife, obtain a regression equation, compare different types of knife designs, and formulate recommendations for the modernization of existing machines and the development of new ones.
